Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (also called 7DMT) is a thrilling coaster that will take you swinging and singing through the mines!
Use this ride guide to determine whether or not this ride is best for you and your family. All the sections below include valuable information on the ride.
Quick Summary
Park: Magic Kingdom
Land: Fantasyland
Ride Type: Roller Coaster
Height Requirement: 38 inches
Lightning Lane: Individual Lightning Lane; Highly recommended
What is Seven Dwarfs Mine Train?
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (7DMT) is a small coaster that lasts approximately 3 minutes. The ride cart allows two people to sit in each cart, and each person has their own lap bar. Tall or larger guests may feel tight and squished due to the narrow seats. The ride has some small drops and speedy turns. There is one part in a dark mine. You will ride outside and inside in this fun family coaster!
Is Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Scary?
This ride is a small coaster, and young kids might be afraid of the speeds and thrills.
There is a dark section in the mine, but it is well lit with glowing gems and the dwarfs from the movie.
Music is moderately loud, but not overwhelming for sensitive guests.
If you are riding at night, the outside photo flashes might be bright for sensitive guests.
Overall, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train gets a Scare Score of 5/10.
Best Times to Ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Rope Drop (first ride of the day)
During the fireworks for a unique experience!
Average wait times for this ride are around 90-140 minutes.
Lightning Lane vs. Standby: Is It Worth It?
Due to consistently long wait times, I highly recommend an Individual Lightning Lane for this ride. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a fun coaster that is definitely worth the wait if you don't want to spend money on an Individual Lightning Lane. If you want to wait in the shortest line possible, make this ride a rope drop priority. If the ride is down at any point during the day, you can also watch the My Disney Experience App and get in line as soon as it opens (usually with little to no wait). The interactive elements in line make it fun for kids and adults.
This ride is also a very popular Lightning Lane, so I recommend selecting it as early as possible.
Nearby Snacks, Bathrooms, & Break Spots
Bathrooms: There are bathrooms behind Pinocchio Village Haus that are quiet and hidden, making it a great place for a bathroom break and a rest zone.
Snacks: There is an ice cream & drink cart in front of Pinocchio Village Haus, which is next to the exit of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
Snacks: Across the path from Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is Storybook Treats, which offers seasonal snacks and dole whip flavors.
Snacks: Next door to Storybook Treats is Friar's Nook, where you can get yummy savory snacks like mac 'n cheese bowls!
Break Spots: The castle walls next to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train also offer some shaded areas for breaks.
Pro Tips
The best photo spot on the ride is during the drop after the mine scene. Smile and pose!
Have a guest that can't ride? Watch your friends and family fly past! Go to the left of the ride exit for a perfect viewing point to take videos of your group that's on the ride.
The carts are so smooth because they actually rock side to side! For a more thrilling experience, really lean into those turns.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a fun, smooth family rollercoaster. I think this ride is always worth a Lightning Lane, and it might even be worth the standby queue if the wait is short enough. This ride is also much more exciting at night!
