What is Mickey's PhilharMagic Concert?
Mickey's PhilharMagic Concert is a 3D show with 4D elements that transports you to the world of Disney music. Loosely based on Fantasia, the show features some thrill elements that keep you immersed. The show runs all throughout the day, with new shows starting every 15-20 minutes. It is an indoor show in a theater. The show is approximately 12 minutes long, and you will sit in comfy theater chairs.
Is Mickey's PhilharMagic Concert Scary?
This show is in a dark theater, which might frighten small guests.
The 4D elements are usually sudden and surprising. Some 4D elements include water being spritzed towards your face from the chair in front of you, your chair buzzing like a little shock, and loud bursts of air.
The music is loud in the show, and there are scenes with louder and quieter songs. One particularly loud scene is at the end of "Be Our Guest", where a 3D champagne bottle explodes in your direction (you get sprayed a little from the back of your chair).
At the end of the show, a real animatronic of Donald bursts into a wall behind you in the theater. It is loud, and there is a lot of smoke. Most littles are scared until they see it's Donald Duck, who comically falls into the wall after a few minutes.
Guests with light sensitivity might be overwhelmed by the vivid flashing lights in some of the scenes.
Overall, Mickey's PhilharMagic Concert gets a Scare Score of 6/10.
What is a Scare Score?
A Scare Score is a rating for how scary a ride might be for guests with littles or guests who have sensitivities to environmental triggers like lights and sounds. The higher the score, the more intense a ride/attraction is compared to other rides and attractions. Ultimately, you know your family best, so use these Scare Scores as a guide, not as a rule!
Best Times to Watch Mickey's PhilharMagic Concert
Middle of the day (A.C. break!)
Afternoon (during a Fantasyland visit)
Average wait times for this show are around 10-20 minutes.
Lightning Lane vs. Standby: Is It Worth It?
Although the show is available as a Lightning Lane, it is rarely ever needed. The theater can hold almost 500 people per show, meaning there is hardly ever a wait except for letting the show before you finish! The wait is entirely inside as well, meaning you will enjoy a nice, quiet break in the A.C. before the show.
If you are visiting during a holiday and this show is a must for you... you could consider a Lightning Lane, but even during holidays, this show has a low wait. I have only seen it go up to 35-40 minutes once or twice during New Years! The standby lane is almost always perfect for this show.
Nearby Snacks, Bathrooms, & Break Spots
Bathrooms: There are bathrooms behind Pinocchio Village Haus that are quiet and hidden, making it a great place for a bathroom break and a rest zone.
Snacks: There is an ice cream & drink cart in front of Pinocchio Village Haus, which is across from the exit to Mickey's PhilharMagic Concert.
Snacks: Across the way from Mickey's PhilharMagic Concert is Storybook Treats, which offers seasonal snacks and dole whip flavors.
Break Spots: The standby queue for this show is actually the perfect break spot! You will wait in a quiet inside space with low lighting that makes the best break spot.
Pro Tips
If you don't want to feel your seat buzz under you, sit up from your seat a little (don't block anyone's view though!) right when Ariel sings the last word of "Part of Your World"... the eels will try to touch Donald Duck and shock him.
If you aren't sure if your child will enjoy the show, find a row with seats closest to the end of the room (all the way down from the entrance). It will make exiting much faster.
The gift shop after the show is a great place to find some fun souvenirs... take your time in the shop!
Mickey's PhilharMagic Concert is a magical show that lets you immerse yourself into the world of Disney music. I have always loved this show, even when I was super sensitive to sounds as a kid. The fun parts always made up for the scary parts! If you love classic Disney movies, then this show will be a great addition to your time in Fantasyland.
