Quick Summary

  • Park: Magic Kingdom

  • Land: Fantasyland

  • Ride Type: Family Ride

  • Height Requirement: None

  • Lightning Lane: Moderately Recommended

What is Dumbo The Flying Elephant?

Dumbo the Flying Elephant is a classic Disney ride themed after Disney's movie "Dumbo". The ride spins in a big circle, and you have control over how high and low you want to go as you fly. The ride is approximately 1.5 minutes long, and there is a simple lap belt.

Is Dumbo The Flying Elephant Scary?

  • The ride is high up in the sky, which might frighten younger guests.

  • The ride is a circular ride, which might cause some motion sickness if you are prone.

  • Overall, Dumbo The Flying Elephant gets a Scare Score of 2/10.

Best Times to Ride Dumbo The Flying Elephant

  • Middle of the day (lunch time)

  • End of Night (after fireworks)

  • Average wait times for this ride are around 20-35 minutes.

Lightning Lane vs. Standby: Is It Worth It?

Due to moderate wait times, I would say this ride is not worth a Lightning Lane unless it is very important to you. The queue is also really fun, making the standby line worth the wait! There is a fun indoor playground for kids inside the queue. The interactive elements make it fun for kids and adults!

This ride is also a moderately popular Lightning Lane, so I recommend selecting it early in the day if it is a must-do for you.

Nearby Snacks, Bathrooms, & Break Spots

Bathrooms: There are bathrooms in the big barn next to Dumbo The Flying Elephant!

Snacks: There are wonderful bakery snacks and packaged snacks in Storybook Treats, the big circus tent across from Dumbo!

Break Spots: The playground inside the Dumbo queue is a great break spot for kids!

Pro Tips

  • Want more time in the playground area? Just let other people go in front of you! Don't feel pressured to pull your kids out of the playground just to move forward in line. The wait probably won't be much longer anyways.

  • Use the silver tab on Dumbo to control going up and down when you ride.

Peter Pan's Flight is a nostalgic, magical ride that immerses you into the world of some of Walt Disney's most beloved characters. I think this ride is always worth a Lightning Lane, and it might even be worth the standby queue if the wait is short enough.
